Welcome to the Japanese Culture Club!
Hello, everyone! This is the JCC President, Bianca and I'm here to first say "Welcome!" and to tell everyone what's going down this week. We're having our first meeting on the Aug 29th (that's a Friday) from 12:05pm to 12:45pm. Its going to held in the Liberal Studies (013) room so plan accordingly. And speaking of plans...that's what this week's meeting is all about. This meeting is going to be about how make the JCC better than then ever and the more people we can get in on this the better. We're going talk about what days are best time to have a meeting and when, some possible activities, and what everyone wants to talk about this semester. So please so up with your ideas because everyone's opinion on the matter matters, but if you can't show up that's cool too.

Last JCC Meeting of the Year! May 6, 2014
Don't skip town yet!
JCC's having a meeting! This Tuesday, we're going to eat out (so bring money) at a Chinese/Japanese restaurant--it has a hibachi grill section. Of course there will be other activities: we're going to play games, have a randomized screening, make calligraphy (so bring spare ink and brushes if you have it) and offer prizes.
Come to the meeting for one last "Hurrah!" for this school year. We'll meet in Myers at 2 pm and go out to eat around 5:00.Tuesday, April 8, 2014
Japanese Culture Meeting: This Sunday 4/13/2014!
Hello everyone! There is a JCC meeting this Sunday, May 13, starting at 2:00pm in the Myers (the small auditorium across the hall from Studios 1 & 2). So please stop in and bring a friend if you can. This week's meeting will last a few hours because there will be a screening, but people are not obligated to stay until the end. We're not holding people hostage here. The topic is "Art in Japan" again. Come to the meeting with an art related topic in mind, love in your heart, and some pictures to show. Once again, JCC encourages people to think outside the anime-box and try to think of other forms of art in Japan such as installation, sculpture, traditional, contemporary, ukiyo-e paintings, etc. Performance arts and storytelling/legends are also welcome!
There will also be a participatory Japanese calligraphy activity. We have the paper, so bring bamboo brushes and ink if you have them!
P.S. We are also thinking about having a snack sale next week. Any creative ideas of what to sell would be greatly appreciated!

Next Meeting: Saturday 3/29
Hello, everyone! We're having a JCC meeting on March 29 from 4:30pm to 5:30 pm, so plan accordingly. The meeting will be held in Myers (the small auditorium across the hall from Studios 1 & 2). This week's topic is "art in Japan" and what we love about it. So be prepared to talk about your favorite artist, art movement, artwork, style, medium or anything art-related that's from Japan. Please try to bring images-- i.e. digital files or hyperlinks to images or print media (e.g. a book, if you have it). Don't be afraid to think outside of the anime box, i.e -- installation, sculpture, traditional, contemporary, ukiyo-e paintings, and etc. So come to meeting and have some fun talking about Japanese art!
